23 May - I-168 left Kure for Midway

30 May - sighted aircraft-carrier

31 May - sighted aircraft-carrier, approached Kurel Is.

1 June - reconnaissance Sand Is.

2 June - arrived NW off Midway, and did patrol NE off Midway

3-4 June - conduct patrol E off Midway ---("B"22)

5 June 1750 - I-168 ordered to make shell attack to Midway airbase

           2224 - make shell to air-base at Eastern Is. from south 4000m by
                      10cm high-angle       gun (6 shells, minutes). I-168 was responded big fire-
                      power, then withdrew and submerged

6 June 0735 - commander of 3rd submarine squadron gave order to I-168 to make
                        attack to Yorktown carrier

6 June evening - I-168 received order from 3rd submarine squadron.
                              Advance assigned position

7 June morning - I-168 sighted several small black points on the eastern horizon then
                              beginning the approach

0937 - periscope sighted big carrier too close about 500m. I-168 moved turn 360 degrees
           to open range from carrier

1005 - fired precise salvo of two torpedoes and 3 second after, fired two
           torpedoes range about  1200m, then 40 second after, big sounds (four times)
           were heard, an then I-168 took big damaged, that #2 batterys were unusable,
           forward torpedo room was flooded, as a result  I-168 was unsubmergable ("B"23)

1550 - I-168 escaped sunk and enemy destroyer

19 June - I-168 arrived at Kure
